Discernment process
On Sunday 22nd February, we heard Bishop Stephen give an introduction to the Diocesan Discernment Process. We have attached here a number of documents for you to read in preparation for your involvement.
Once we have checked the individual data sheets for accuracy we shall also share those. Attachments 02, and 03 give a full insight into what has been sent to parishes while attachments 04,05,06, 07 and 08 are the documents which will help us discern. Once finalised, we shall also share the practical ways in which we will work through the process.
In order to receive as many contributions as possible, we will hold meetings, have a paper questionnaire, give a WhatsApp tel number 07377 523393 and invite emails to stanne.winlaton@diocesehn.org.uk
We envisage two stages. The first will look at the Mission of the Church – always our priority; and the second will consider the stewardship elements – finances, buildings, volunteers etc.
Stage one meetings will focus on the tasks of the Church to WORSHIP, TEACH, SERVE and BUILD COMMUNITY and will be held after Masses on the following dates:-
- St Joseph’s, Highfield – Sat 14th March.
- St Anne’s Sunday 22nd March.
- Our Lady’s Sun 29th March.
- St Joseph’s, Blaydon Sun 12th April
Stage Two meetings will be led by the three Finance Committees and dates have still to be arranged for all of these.
